Dog Park Activity and Check-in Privacy | RuffRuff Let's Play

Learn how public dog cards work, how to hide a card for every or one visit, and how connection push notifications are controlled separately.

RuffRuff helps dog parents discover parks. Public pages show checked-in dog totals plus separate anonymous size and life-stage breakdowns; a puppy may also be large. By default, Settings > Privacy > Show my dogs on the park list is on, so park pages can also show each checked-in dog's name, photo, breed, size, and age, never the owner's name or profile links. Turn the setting off—or switch it off just for one visit at check-in—to hide the card while the dog still counts in the total and breakdowns.

Public park pages show checked-in dog totals and size/life-stage breakdowns. Dog cards are shown by default unless the owner turns them off in Privacy or for that visit; cards show dog details only, never an owner's name or profile link. A separate Notifications setting controls check-in pushes to accepted connections.

Find a park, choose whether your dogs appear on its public list, and separately decide whether accepted connections receive a check-in push.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does RuffRuff show public real-time dog park activity?
Public park pages show checked-in dog totals plus separate anonymous size and life-stage breakdowns. By default, they can also show a dog's name, photo, breed, size, and age—but never the owner's name or profile links. The Privacy setting Show my dogs on the park list, or its per-visit check-in toggle, hides the card, name, and photo; hidden dogs still count in totals and breakdowns.
Who can see my park check-in?
You control the dog card separately from Location Sharing. By default, anyone viewing a public park page can see your checked-in dog's name, photo, breed, size, and age, but not your name or profile links. Turn off Show my dogs on the park list in Settings > Privacy or for a single visit at check-in to hide the card; your dog still counts in the public total and size/life-stage breakdowns. Tell my connections when I check in in Settings > Notifications is on by default and separately sends a push to accepted connections.
Can I still check in manually?
Yes. Turning Location Sharing off does not prevent you from manually checking in or seeing your own active check-in.
Can I see if a park is busy right now?
Public park pages show how many dogs are checked in, with separate size and life-stage breakdowns; a puppy may also be large. Totals count dogs, not people. The count is not a full measure of crowd levels, so contact the park directly for current conditions.
Is RuffRuff Let's Play free?
Yes. RuffRuff Let's Play is a free app for discovering parks, finding pup-friendly spots, connecting with dog owners, and finding local pros.
